Maxou

Such a gorgeous big rascal, typical ginger and white cat, an absolute joy to have, great companion cat.

As you can see, hyper cuddly, very close to humans, loves contact and very easy going, cat very zen!

Maxou was found as a stray, we found his owners but they refused to take him back as he is FIV positive.  There is no reason why Maxou can’t have a normal happy healthy life, please read of advice below.

WHAT IS FIV?

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a cat-specific virus that is thought to affect approximately 2-5% of the cat population in the UK.

It is a slow acting virus and many infected cats enjoy a normal lifespan with no apparent health concerns as a result of the virus. FIV is species specific and cannot be passed to humans. If you’re willing to make a few adjustments to your home (both to protect them from illness and other cats from the disease), these cats make wonderful and rewarding companions.

FIV+ cats can live as long and healthy a life as non-infected cats. This doesn’t mean they will never become ill; they are, after all immunocompromised, so illnesses can be easier to catch and harder to fight off. They have the same needs as any other cat: high quality nutrition, a clean, stress-free, strictly indoor environment, regular veterinary visits, and lots of love. If they should become ill, they are generally treated earlier, longer, and more aggressively than non-immunocompromised cats (meaning they need to see the vet at the very first sign of illness and may be on a stronger medication or on medication for a longer period of time).

Cats Infected With FIV Can Live Long and Healthy Lives

They’re Just Cats

If you’re looking to adopt a cat, then you’re in luck because FIV+ cats are just like other cats! Like every other cat you’ve ever known, each FIV+ cat will have his or her own unique personality.
